Where possible, she uses her own photographs as reference, seeking to capture the quiet expression of the essential child - not too serious, yet not too silly - something bright, open and childlike. From these photographs parents choose the final working print. "I find that a child's face in repose possesses a great deal of wisdom. Too often you see saccharine portraits of children, which eventually wind up in the attic. I hope these drawings will withstand the test of time. Years down the road I'd like their children's children to recognize a bit of themselves in these pictures". Constance's portraits have been commissioned by families across the breadth and depth of the US and Europe. | |
